WSJ Doom & Gloom Survey on Jobs isn’t so bad

The Journal reported in this Month’s survey of Economists that they believe, generally, about 25% of the 8M jobs lost during the recession won’t spring back, and will need to be replaced with new jobs in innovative growth areas.

Of course, in a world of punchy headlines to become better indexed on Google and on CNBC segments, the press is probably too tempted to sound the doom and gloom bells.

We need our job makeup to shift to innovative growth areas for long term health. It may take longer than we want to get there, but maybe less time than the surveyed Economists think because of technology innovation and the heightened pace of idea generation.
